If you enjoy puzzles, you will love this workshop. Students will cut up rainbow dyed silk gauze and then piece it together using a mosaic nuno felt technique with fine merino wool to create a stained glass shawl. Choose from bright colors that will match just about anything or neutrals like black, tan, and copper. The instructor will also provide a demonstration on how to turn this shawl into an asymmetrical poncho.

Students need to bring a 3’x 9’ rubber rug mat (buy a 6x9 and cut in half); a foam pool noodle at least 3 feet long; wetting method (either a one-gallon garden sprayer, or a ball brause and bucket); sharp, full-sized scissors; at least two old towels you don’t mind staining; four table risers (called bed risers); and an apron (optional). Students should wear comfortable shoes.

Date & Time

Sunday, June 4th from 9 am to 4pm (with a one-hour lunch break)

Skill Level

Material Fee

A $60.00 material fee is included in the workshop registration fee. This fee includes yardage of hand-painted silk gauze and merino wool.

About the Instructor

Patti Barker is an award-winning felt wear designer. She enjoys teaching at fiber events and textile guilds. She earned a BA degree in studio art with a concentration in fiber at Western Washington University. All of her designs are produced with felted seams (no sewing). The fabric and garment are created simultaneously, using wet felting techniques. Patti lives in a sprawling farm house in Central Florida with her husband, Rex, and two dogs.
