Gnome Sweet Gnome Felting Workshop with Monique Mullis
In Gnome Sweet Gnome, students will receive an overview of needle-felting—including history, tools, and general technique—and then jump right into creating their first project. Students will learn to needle felt by making an adorable mini gnome from a felting kit designed by Going Gnome. To accompany their gnome, students will felt wooly mushrooms and put it all together in a small, grassy pastoral scene. There is plenty of opportunity to show individual creativity and design the gnome with unique, personalized details.
While the Going Gnome project is great for beginners, it also allows intermediate felters to learn new techniques and hone their skills. Students will have the opportunity to work with various types of wool fiber, including curly locks and fleece batting, as well as learn about various needle sizes and their proper application. Monique will share tips and tricks for easy felting and fabulous first-time results.
Date & Time
Sunday, May 31st from 1 pm to 4 pm
Skill Level

Material Fee
In addition to the workshop registration fee, a material fee of $30.00 is payable to the instructor at the start of the workshop. Each student will receive the mini gnome felting kit with foam pad that contains enough supplies for at least six additional gnomes.
About the Instructor
Monique Mullis is a Colorado State Park Ranger by day, and an avid, self-taught needle-felter by night. She started needle-felting over eight years ago and quickly learned what a fun, inexpensive, and addicting hobby it can be. Monique gets most of her inspiration from nature and likes to add her version of whimsy to all the projects she makes.
Over the years, she has learned various applications of needle felting, from appliqué on wool to 3-D wool creatures. She continues to develop her personal technique called EZ Peazy felting, one that she shares with her workshop students.
Monique does most of her felting for a hobby business she shares with her sister called The Felted Dog. Through this business, they have been selling felted wool items and needle felting supplies for the past six years at art and fiber festivals.
Monique has taught needle felting workshops at the Estes Park Wool Market, Sneffels Fiber Festival, and monthly felting classes held throughout Southern Colorado. While she enjoys perfecting her own skills and making art pieces, she is particularly passionate about introducing people to needle felting and giving them the skills and tools they need to make their own fiber creations.
