For all of recorded history people have been spinning fibers into yarn and cords. Join Julie Drogsvold in this workshop aimed for ages 6 to 600, and learn how to spin yarns using a Turkish spindle. Students will learn and practice using the spindle as both a drop style and supported type spindle. The workshop will be an easy going and enjoyable time. All that is needed is a willingness to try, the rest will be supplied. All experience levels are welcome.

Date & Time

Sunday, June 4th from 1 to 4 pm

Skill Level

Beginner

Material Fee

A $15.00 materials fee for 3 oz. of fiber, protein, and cellulose is included in the workshop registration fee.

If students do not have their own Turkish spindle, the instructor will have handcrafted hardwood Snyder Turkish spindles available for sale for $30.00 at the beginning of the workshop. If you would like to purchase a spindle, please make a note in the comments section of the checkout form to ensure enough spindles are available.

About the Instructor

Julie has raised rabbits since she was a youngster in FFA. Rabbits led her to raise Angora. Their wool led to learning to spin and joining a Guild. Then, she just jumped in and now raises Angora rabbits and Angora goats. She prides herself on being able to follow her passion from feeding the goats and rabbits, to the shearing, washing, carding, spinning, and weaving of their fiber.
