Using a blending board is a great way to create your own fiber and colorways for felting, spinning, or even weaving. In this workshop, you will learn how to attach fiber to the board, blend, and roll off your fiber. You will be shown tricks of the trade to ensure a rolag that you can use for many different types of fiber projects. During the workshop, students will start to plan their own felted scarf with the use of the blending board. The instructor will bring samples of the many different ways you can use your new fiber. You will create your own rolags with the materials provided and will be able to keep the board and tools.

Date & Time

Saturday, June 3rd from 1 pm to 4 pm

Included Material Fee

A $35.00 material fee is included in the workshop registration fee. The fee includes fiber and your own mini blending board kit (blending board, pick, brush, cover, written instructions, and a tote).

About the Instructor

Karen Dietrich has been involved in the textile industry most of her life. She started out as a pattern maker and designer for her own clothing line in 1988. After designing clothing for teachers, children, and maternity for almost 18 years, Karen took a break and became a city manager, utilizing her Doctorate in Jurisprudence for a while. Missing the textile industry, and needing to be home with her three biological and eight adopted children, Karen decided to raise alpaca, start weaving, and grow her fiber arts business. Today, Karen and her family have a sock mill and are busy designing new products related to fiber arts. Providing excellence in their products is Phoenix Fiber Mill’s number one goal.
