About the Instructor
Cheryl has been involved with fiber arts since she was nine years old. Her grandmother taught her how to knit and a neighbor taught Cheryl to crochet and sew. During the summer break between her freshman and sophomore years in college Cheryl decided to explore pine needle basket making and enrolled in a class. She loved creating beautiful items from something so basic as pine needles. Cheryl made baskets from 1975 to 1982. While watching her husband rake up pine needles in their yard in 2023 she thought, "what a waste of beautiful needles." She was inspired to start making pine needle baskets again. Cheryl has taught pine needle basket making for 8 years.
