Sculpting with Wool: Creating an Adorable Needle Felted Donkey with Monique Mullis
In this workshop, students will discover the satisfying art of needle felting by creating a charming donkey companion. Participants will learn to transform loose wool into a structured 3D figure through a guided, step-by-step process. The instructor will demonstrate essential techniques for shaping the body and adding expressive details like floppy ears and a fuzzy mane.
Beyond the project, students will gain a solid understanding of felting tools as well as receive fun and easy tips to ensure success every time. By the end of the session, attendees will be proficient in basic sculptural felting and leave with a finished handmade donkey and the confidence to continue crafting at home.
This workshop is open to students age 14+

Skill Level
This session is perfectly paced for absolute beginners, yet offers enough professional tips and advanced troubleshooting to help experienced felters refine their technique.
Materials Fee
Materials Fee: $0 (Included in registration)
All supplies and tools needed to complete the project during class will be included. Additionally, to encourage continued practice, students will receive a take-away kit that includes a felting pad, specialized needles, and enough additional wool to create a second donkey friend at home.

About the Instructor
Monique Mullis is a retired Colorado State Park Ranger and the co-owner of The Felted Dog. A self-taught needle felter for over fourteen years, Monique draws deep inspiration from nature, often infusing her 3D wool creatures with a signature touch of whimsy. Over the years, she has designed unique felting kits and perfected a variety of "fiber hacks" as well as developed specialized felting tools designed to ensure a successful project for every student, every time.
For over a decade, Monique has shared her expertise as a traveling instructor and vendor at premier events across the country, including the Estes Park Wool Market, the Texas Fleece and Fiber Festival, Eureka Fiber in the Ozarks and more. When she isn't on the road, she teaches monthly workshops at her storefront and maker’s space in Pueblo, Colorado. While she loves perfecting her own fiber art, Monique’s true passion lies in empowering others with the skills and tools they need to confidently create their own woolly masterpieces.
