2021 Festival Cancelled Due to COVID-19
With the continuation of Covid-19 in our community and throughout the United States, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Flag Wool & Fiber Festival. We recognize the impact cancelling the festival has on our artists, participants, and the greater community. Please know this is not a decision we made lightly.
Planning for the festival begins one year in advance. Due to all the moving parts involved in making the festival happen—from securing the festival grounds, to committing to various contracts and agreements, to coordinating participant availability, to fiscal year deadlines for grant and funding support—delaying our decision to cancel or rescheduling the festival to a later 2021 date is not possible. There are currently too many barriers to allow us to move forward with planning an in-person event, including unknowns about when state and county restrictions will ease and when vaccines will reach the majority of the general population.
We love celebrating and supporting fiber arts in Northern Arizona and recognize the vital role this festival plays in supporting our local creative economy. For this reason, we are actively working to move select festival programming to the virtual environment from June 5-6, 2021. Further information will be released soon on our website and social media.
The health and safety of our participants, attendees, and community members remain of the utmost importance to us. In order to continue to protect yourself, family, friends, and community members, we ask you to please keep in mind those in our world who do not have age and health privilege. We ask everyone to play their part in hand washing, social distancing, and other measures that not only protect you, but protect those who can't protect themselves. Please visit www.cdc.gov for the up-to-date current information, steps to prevent illness, what to do if you are sick, and how to keep work, schools, and communities safe.
We look forward to "seeing" you online at the 2021 Flag Wool & Fiber Festival!
