Shearing at the Flag Wool & Fiber Festival
The Flag Wool & Fiber Festival welcome back Jason Siffring of High Plains Shearing and Mick Hoffman of Mick Hoffman Shearing. Jason and Mick will be offering shearing services onsite from May 30-31 from 9 am to 4 pm. Shearing occurs in our livestock exhibit area, offering an opportunity for festival attendees to witness and learn about the shearing process.

Sheep - $12.00/ewe, $15.00/ram, $5.00 hoof trim
Alpaca - $30.00 (hoof trim included), $5.00 teeth
Llama - $30.00 (hoof trim included), $10.00 teeth
Goat - $12.00
Jason shears alpacas and llamas as well as sheep and goats. He started shearing at Mystic Pines Fiber in 2011. In 2015, he attended Matt Best's alpaca shearing class in Ohio. He apprenticed under Jerry Ladd of Tri-Ply Fibers, and they now work together on large jobs. Jason also travels to rescue farms throughout the Southwest to aide in the rehabilitation of neglected animals, and works with local zoos, businesses, and education facilities. Mick has been a shearer for over a decade, with sheep and alpaca shearing taking him to over twenty states and abroad to Australia. Born and raised on a farm in Iowa, Mick learned the art of shearing from his father twelve years ago. Now residing in Phoenix, Arizona, Mick is focused on building his shearing business in the Southwest region.
