Freestyle Weaving Made Easy with Karen Dietrich
In this workshop, students will weave their own freestyle scarf in the same spirit as Saori Weaving. Students will choose and prepare their own wefts and, after warping their looms, will weave their very own, one of a kind scarf. We will talk about different yarns and fibers and how they enhance a weaving project. If time allows, we will finish off the scarf and add a little bling to the finished project.
This workshop is open to students age 10+

About the Instructor
Karen Dietrich was a pattern maker and designer for her own clothing line when she turned to fiber arts, raising alpaca and eventually opening Phoenix Fiber Mill, a natural fiber socks mill. The family-owned business makes socks for fiber growers all over the United States and Canada. Karen teaches classes on many different fiber arts such as weaving, dyeing, blending fibers and circular knitting as well as other related crafts. If it has to do with fiber, Karen is there!
